Albert Clayton Buxton

Albert Clayton Buxton, "Mr B" to friends and family, age 90, of Fairlawn, Ohio, went home to be with his heavenly father Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Albert, born in Eugene, Oregon, February 23, 1921, was the fourth and last child of Johanna Adameit and Walter Henry Buxton. He grew up in Spokane, Washington. While in the U.S. Navy, he attended Mississippi College. While looking across the commons, he saw Dorothy Miller Peeler walking to class and said to himself, "That's the woman I'm going to marry." He did so on April 20, 1947 in Calvary Baptist Church, Silver Creek, Mississippi.
Mr. Buxton was also known as "AC", which also stands for "alternating current", a fitting nickname because Albert worked for over thirty years as an electrical engineer at Goodyear Aerospace and as professor of electronic technologies at Akron University. He also avidly enjoyed amateur radio, receiving his "ham" radio license at age 14, and contributing new antenna designs to the field.
Al and Dorothy actively participated in the life of First Baptist Church of Akron, Ohio, where they were members for over fifty years. Al taught an adult Sunday School class for over thirty years.
Albert's beloved wife, Dorothy followed him in death four days later. He is warmly remembered by those who loved him, son, Albert Clayton Buxton Jr.; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Buxton; daughter, Donna Lynn Romanowski; son-in-law, William David Romanowski; son, James Edward Buxton; granddaughter, Christine Marie Buxton; grandson, Michael James Romanowski; granddaughter, Tara Lynn Romanowski; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, December 10, 3:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Akron, 1670 Shatto Ave., Akron, Ohio. Interment will be in Silver Creek, Mississippi.
