Albert George Hirzel Albert George Hirzel, 86, April 10, 1925-September 24, 2011. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Albert lived most of his life in Bath Township. As a charter member of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, he played violin in 1953, then viola until 1973 and was well respected by his private students. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World WarII in the North and South Pacific from 1943 through 1946. Mr. Hirzel was involved with 4-H, the Bath Pony Club, and was a longtime, active member of Ghent Christian Church. He retired from B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company in the Research Center after 30 years of faithful service. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Alix; daughters, Joy Larry Hein, Holly, Carolyn Birchenall, Julia Ralph Eckart, and Amy Glenn Wert; grandchildren, Sasha, Neill Lorna, Eric Rachel, Rael, Jack, William and Anna; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Allison, Michael, Iona, Eden, Tobias, Ethan and Evelyn. Celebrate his life with us Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Ghent Christian Church, 4200 Granger Rd., Akron 44333. Service in the sanctuary at 3 p.m.; then gather with family and friends immediately following in the fellowship hall attached to the church.
