Alice Ann Davies, 86, died March 9, 2011.

Born in Huntington, W. Va., Alice Ann Davies was a longtime Akron resident. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University and Ohio University, where met she John Davies, her husband of 56 years. For more than 50 years, she was an active member and actor at Weathervane Community Playhouse where she won Chanticleer awards for her roles in Company and On Golden Pond. She remembered her seasons at Weathervane as the happiest of her life: many of her life-long friendships were formed there. Alice Ann volunteered at Akron General Hospital, Akron Parent Teacher Association and the Weathervane Women's Board.

Preceded in death by her husband, John, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Neal and Barry Jones of Elkton, Md.; daughter, Ann Welsh Davies of Parma; daughter and son-in-law, Jane ``Jenny' Eaton and Charles Davies-Schley of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Brant and Evelyn Jones and John and Sarah Davies-Schley; brother and sister-in-law, William and Barbara Eaton; and dear friends, Tim Champion and Margaret Dietz.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26 at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Dr. Leonard H. Budd officiating. Inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park will be private. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, March 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 190 S. Maple St., Akron, OH 44302, Weathervane Community Playhouse, 1301 Weathervane Lane, Akron 44313 or the Tuesday Musical Association, 1 S. Main St., Akron 44308.
