Alvira Backstrom

Alvira "Vera" Backstrom died unexpectedly on April 26, 2014 at age 83.

Alvira had been living in Cuyahoga Falls for the past 11 years. She spent her childhood in the town of North East, PA and the majority of her adult life in Erie, PA before moving to Ohio. Those who knew Alvira referred to her as gentle, sweet and kind. Her neighbors became her best friends.

Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; she is survived by her daughter, Paula (Alan) Kurzweil and her grandsons, Jeffrey and Justin (Melanie).

Services will be held 6 p.m. FRIDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the service begins. Interment will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery in Erie, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Akron Civic Theater, 182 S. Main St., Akron 44308.
