Amanda Lawhon, 41, passed away June 10, 2017 at her home in Copley.
Amanda was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 19, 1976 and grew up in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. She was a graduate of the University of Virginia and the Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. While at UVA Amanda met the love of her life, Dr. William Lawhon. They married on August 4, 2002 and later had three sons who were the light of her life.
Amanda never met a challenge she thought was too hard or an unworthy cause. She served on many boards and committees supporting various causes, with a particular passion for education. Her compassion led her to serve in refugee camps; she was scheduled to return to Jordan in July.
Amanda was a fiercely independent spirit who seamlessly interwove her love of family, friends, community, and humanity.
She is survived by her husband, William; sons, William (12), Wiley (8), and Hayes (5); her mother, Theresa (and David) Stephenson; father, John Germanovich; grandparents, Rosemary and Doug Phillips; grandmother, Mary (Mitzie) Germanovich; brother, Elliott Germanovich; step-sister, Alyssa Stephenson; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Bonnie Lawhon; sisters-in-law, Sara and Laurie Lawhon; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In lieu of flowers, a trust fund to support her sons' educational endeavors has been established. Donations can be sent to "William Lawhon, Trustee" at 4575 Mark Tr. Copley, OH 44321.
