Andrew "Andy" P. Preston

Andy Preston passed away peacefully on February 26, 2022 at the age of 86.

He was born on February 12, 1936 in Youngstown, Ohio.  His family later moved to Akron and he graduated from Buchtel High School in 1954.

Andy worked summer jobs painting houses and delivering mail in order to graduate from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 1960 and he cemented his life long love of the Buckeyes.  He rarely missed an OSU basketball game on tv and never (ever) missed a football game.

He left Columbus ready to fill prescriptions and landed a job at St. Thomas Hospital where he met his future wife, Jean Bozzelli.  They married in 1963 and had two daughters Holly and Heather.

His pharmacy career spanned 44 years, most of which were at Acme #10 where he was a constant presence in the elevated pharmacy right at the entrance. He had many devoted customers and friends who looked forward to seeing him and enjoyed his funny sense of humor and warm disposition.

He was a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary church for over 50 years and an avid supporter of the American Red Cross, donating 105 units of blood during his lifetime.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Ida Preston and his wife of 43 years Jean Preston.  He is survived by his beloved sister, Barbara Nelson (Lee); his daughters, Heather Glazebrook (Scott), Holly Wilt (Steve), and his two grandchildren, Charlotte Carter Wilt and Stephen Charles Wilt.

He’ll be missed greatly by his large, extended family numbering in the dozens, his dear friend Susan Kelly, and many other friends and customers from his long career. To them Andy was someone that could be counted on. If you needed a ride, a hand, or some guidance he was always there and happy to help.

Calling hours are from 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12 at Immaculate Heart of Mary church, 1905 Portage Trail, Cuyahoga Falls.  Mass of the Christian Burial will take place immediately following at 11:00 AM.
