Angela Arnone Kelly, born May 24, 1919, died November 4, 2010.
Angie lived her entire life in Akron, attended Garfield High School and held 'Rosie the riveter' and other jobs until 1950 when she married Jim. Her life was her children, husband and the amazing family created by the marriage of an Italian woman with six siblings to a Lebanese man with ten! Angie was the 'Hostess with the Mostest'. Her home was the place to celebrate holidays and family milestones, gather for regular card games, hold club meetings, or just stop by.
Angie was a major fan of Cleveland sports, especially the Indians, and still hoped they and she! would make it to another World Series game. Angie loved Christmas as it represented so much that was important to her: the chance to give gifts and gather family. Until her 89th year, she cooked and baked and shopped and wrapped and awed us all with her decorating. She was a proud Democrat who still read the editorial pages and watched CNN until the week before she died. She was a Catholic with a simple, basic faith: love God and each other, do good, go to heaven. She said the rosary daily.
Angie was predeceased by husband, Jim Kelly; daughter in-law, Margaret; and siblings, Ray and Joe Arnone and Rita Scalia. She is survived by children, Mary Kelly, Rita and Ted Madick, John Kelly Donna Hock, Roseann and Bob Ulrich; her grandchildren, Hannah, Angela, Sarah Ulrich and Halle Kelly; her imposter children, Mary and Nick Marino, Peg and Ken Contrera and her imposter grandkids, George Missy and Nick Marino, and Tom, Kevin, Jessica and Keith Contrera; her step grands and their families, Lisa Leeman, Kendra Youngman, Carrie Biasella, and Maddie Hock. Her surviving siblings stood by her till the end, Ann Arcuri, Mary Varca and Tony Arnone Becky Patton; brother-in-law, Harvey Kelly and sister-in- law, Laurice Kelly. Angie is also survived by dozens of loving and very loved--nieces and nephews.
Being able to keep mom at home this past year was a blessing for all us and would not have been possible without the extraordinary care of Summa Home Hospice. Thanks to Dr. Cevasco, Nurse Deanna, massotherapist Michelle, volunteer Angela and especially mom's aid, Louise, who brought care and lots of laughter to us all. Other angels helped us through this year, especially neighbors, Don and Bonnie Winnen.
Feisty, beautiful, fun. The great entertainer. The loving mom. The incredible Siti., Mrs. Claus. She will be so very missed by so many.
