Ann Hoyt Drennon

February 12, 1929 — October 16, 2022

Ann Hoyt Drennon —dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many--passed away on October 16, 2022 after a brave battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ann, 93, of Akron, Ohio died peacefully at home alongside her adoring husband, Raleigh Drennon.
Ann was born on February 12, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio to Raymond A Hoyt and Irene P Hoyt. After Ann graduated from West High School in Columbus Ohio, she went on to study at her beloved Miami University of Ohio graduating with a degree in Sociology.
Ann was the epitome of grace and kindness, brightening the days of everyone she met. She was a consummate entertainer, effortlessly bringing people together; her quick wit and unforgettable laugh was a gift to all. At the same time, her dedication to her family gave her a quiet strength and dignity that was an inspiration to all. No need was too small and no burden too heavy for her loving heart.
A lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, Ann was a vibrant member of many different communities. First and foremost, she was a dedicated mother and wife. Later in life she worked at Prescott Ball and Turben in Hudson, Ohio as a licensed stockbroker. An avid golfer, she was the first female member of the Country Club of Hudson, where she chaired the social committee, and later was a regular on the links at Fairlawn Country Club. She was also a long-time and active member of Bath Church.
Ann is survived by her husband Raleigh, her two children Matthew E. (Georgi) Brisbin and Carol A. (Michael) Holmes and granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Holmes from her late first husband William H. Brisbin, and four stepchildren Vicki (Bill) Heise, Mark (Joni) McDonald, Nancy (Gary) Weinert and David (Pam) McDonald and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren from her late second husband, Lee S. McDonald. She was predeceased by stepson Scott McDonald.
During her struggle with Alzheimer’s, Raleigh’s tireless care for Ann was supported by a host of compassionate caregivers. The family wishes to thank them all, especially Bobbie Jo Jurrius, for their love and kindness during her final years.
