Anna Mary Norrod

Anna Mary Norrod went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2014 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer.
Born in Akron on April 23, 1947, Anna was the daughter of James and Virginia Parker, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Stow High School as well as Kent State University where she earned a Master's Degree in Political Science. She retired from the City of Akron Department of Planning and Urban Renewal after 30 years of service.
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, Earl; her dear cats: Shelton, Nita, Toni, and Chloe; sister, Sally (Wayne) Pickens; sisters in law: Marian Hull and Thelma (Wally) Phillipp; brothers in law Marvin (Vada) Norrod, Melvin (Leta) Norrod, and Cecil (Ann) Norrod; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to offer special thanks to home hospice nurse, Amy Polacheck, Dr. Jeffrey and Ileen Klein, Dr. Melodie Phillips, as well as the kind and caring staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Akron City Hospital. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Rev. Landis Coffman for his encouragement, visits, and caring spirit throughout this journey, Rev. Coffman will conduct the funeral service.
Friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. where services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00A.M. Inurnment will take place at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Anna desired that donations be made to either One of a Kind Pet Rescue, 1929 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313 or the Conservancy for the CVNP, 1403 W. Hines Hill Rd., Peninsula, Ohio 44264.
