Anthony S. Olivo, aged 95, of the Village at St. Edward's Assisted Care, formerly of
Cuyahoga Falls, died July 31, 2013.
Born May 24, 1918 in Akron he was a 1936 graduate of West High School. Anthony was a 6th Armored Division Staff Sergeant during World War II and was injured at the Battle of the Bulge, earning him the Bronze Star. Anthony married Philomena (Chriss) on August 31, 1946, returned to University of Akron on the G.I. bill, finishing his degree in Accounting to start his own accounting firm. He was a member of St. Anthony Church, Boys Town of Italy, and the American Legion Post 19 of Fairlawn.
Anthony is preceded in death by his father, Donato; mother, Maria; two brothers, Frank and Peter, and grandson James Olivo. He is survived by his wife, Philomena; two children, David Olivo of Akron and Dr. Mary Jo Fresch (Hank) of Dublin; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at St. Ed's for their loving care of Anthony.
Visitation will be 9:00-10:00 a.m. on FRIDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 83 Mosser Place, Akron 44310. Internment with military honors by Firestone Post #3383 V.F.W. follows at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 E. Waterloo Rd., Akron 44319.
