Anthoula Poleondakis

April 23, 1932 — January 11, 2017

Anthoula (Rodoussakis) Poleondakis passed away peacefully into God's arms on January 11, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 23, 1932 in Xania, Crete, Greece she lived a blessed life of love and family. Life's challenges were no stranger to her, born into the struggle of surviving her early years in Crete during WWII and a civil war that followed, losing a husband early and raising their three children on her own and recently losing her oldest child. With all the struggles that surviving 84 years brings she was rarely without a warm, sparkling smile, to family, friends and strangers alike. People could not resist returning the gift of that smile back to her. Her family and friends were the treasures in her life. After moving to America a newly married immigrant bride, she and her loving husband George had three beautiful children: Andoni "Tony", Damasco "Noula" and Yianni "John" who were surrounded by a supportive and loving Greek community. As a professional seamstress she worked hard to raise and educate her children. All three having received college degrees, a must by her standards, and they thrived. Her cooking was the glue that brought her family and friends together. And what an amazing cook she was, being able to whip up a feast for 4 or 40, and it was always incredible. Always up for a party and a trip somewhere around the world, she enjoyed celebrating life. She is survived by her brother, Nick; sister, Vaggelio; daughter, Noula (Demetri); son, John (Rise'); incredible grandchildren, Antha, Paige (Shannon), George, Stasi (Stephanie), Jonathon (Dina), Dylan and her precious great granddaughter, Evelyn. She was much loved and will be missed by all that knew her...
