Ardyce Mae Lal, 85, departed this life peacefully July 12, 2012. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, she lived most of her life with her family in Akron. Ardyce sang with the St. Paul Civic Opera and Metropolitian Grand Opera. She won a voice scholarship to the Julliard School of Music in New York City. Ardyce met her future husband, Joginder, on a blind date in New York City. It was love at first sight. Ardyce enjoyed listening to classical music, attending symphonic concerts and ballets, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching classic movies and talking with people. She was instrumental in supporting her daughter's and son's artistic interests.
Preceded in death by her husband, Joginder; sister, Evelyn; brother, Harold; survived by daughter, Anjana (Creed) Pettigrew; son, Rajinder (Janine) Lal; grandchildren, Erin Pettigrew, Zarin, Zubin and Navi Lal.
Friends may call 10 to 12 noon on Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
