Barbara Ann Lindahl "Ann", age 83, of Fairlawn, Ohio died peacefully at the home of her eldest son and daughter-in-law in Fairlawn Ohio, Tuesday April 12, 2011 after a prolonged illness. God blessed Ann by giving her a wonderful life filled with a loving family, friends and amazing experiences too numerous to mention. She believed that reality left a lot to the imagination.
Barbara "Ann", born in Huntington, West Virginia May 15, 1927, was the beloved daughter of Frederick N. Kellermann and Osceola McCoy Kellermann; sister of Dora Harshbarger Robert Harshbarger - deceased of Roanoke, Virginia. Ann was preceded in death by her father, Frederick and her loving mother, Osecola. She was also preceded in death by her loving spouse, Allan Walter Lindahl October 9, 2000.
Ann was a graduate of Huntington High School and a member of The National Honor Society. She attended Roanoke College, Roanoke, Virginia and was an active member of various service sororities and charitable organizations. While working at a major insurance company, she was introduced to young field auditor, Allan Walter Lindahl of East Orange, New Jersey. After a whirlwind courtship, Allan and Ann were married on June 4, 1953. During Allan's long distinguished accounting and financial management career with American Electric Power Company, Allan and Ann lived in Caldwell, New Jersey; Canton, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Indiana then finally settled in North Canton, Ohio which they considered home for the past 30 years. Allan and Ann had two sons, Norman Allan Lindahl Laura Marie Ries Lindahl of Fairlawn, Ohio and Carl Andrew Lindahl of North Canton, Ohio. Ann had a small but loving family. Ann and her loving and feisty sister were inseparable their whole lives and were affectionately known as the Bobbsey Twins. Ann derived great strength, joy and humor from her sister-in-law, Thelma Olsen of Point Pleasant, New Jersey Gilbert T. Olsen - deceased. Ann was blessed to have wonderful nieces and nephews, Karen Olsen Smith Daniel of West Palm Beach, Florida, Roy Olsen Cheryl of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, David Harshbarger deceased of Arlington, Virginia and Kathy Harshbarger Overfelt Lee of Cary, North Carolina. Ann had many hobbies and interests; a love of dogs, basketball, ice hockey and gardening but most of all she loved books and music. Her whole adult life she would read two to three books per week with a wide variety of topics. Her passion for a good book was extreme. Her musical likes were wide and varied ranging from the Big Bands of the 1940's, Dixieland Jazz, Reggae, Rock 'n Roll especially The Beatles, Country and her most favorite Willie Nelson all reflective of her deep and diverse personality.
The family will conduct private services just for immediate family and no public services will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army. Ann was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, aunt and friend to all. But the true essence of her loving nature boiled down to one simple formula that she embodied as quoted in the lyrics of a famous song -- "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." .. she will be missed by all.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the VNS Hospice staff, Barbara Christie and especially Ann's personal nurse for over three years Aimee Dimit.
