Barbara Estelle Baldwin Mell
August 8, 1934 - June 5, 2016

Barbara Estelle Mell passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 after a long and rewarding life at her beloved home surrounded by her family.

She was a lifelong Akron resident who attended Buchtel High School and received her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Kent State University and a Master's degree in Social Work at the University of Akron. She enjoyed teaching home economics and later pursued a career in real estate.

She was a proud member of the Akron Woman's City Club, The Junior League of Akron, Portage Country Club, The National Association of Realtors, and Saint Paul's Episcopal Church.

Barbara's greatest passion was sharing with her family her properties on Sand Run Road & her home in Lauderdale By The Sea, as well as, expressing her creativity through painting beautiful watercolor landscapes and still lifes.

She is survived by her son, Gregory S. Bowling (wife Rebecca Bowling); her daughter, Laura A. Bowling; and two grandchildren, Graham Baldwin Bowling and Gretchen Ambrose Bowling.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am FRIDAY in the Chapel at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 1361 W. Market Street. Friends may call at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., THURSDAY from 5-8 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Operation Smile, an international medical charity that has provided hundreds of thousands of free surgeries for children and young adults in developing countries who are born with cleft lip, cleft palate or other facial deformities.
