Barbara Joann Orosz Scott

Barbara Joann , 77, of Akron, passed away September 6, 2023 after a long illness. Barb was born on September 3, 1946 in Akron, OH to parents Joseph and Matilda Orosz.
Barb graduated from Norton High School, Class of 1964. She then went on to graduate from the University of Akron with a degree in Education and later earned a Master’s degree, also in Education. Barb began her career as a Librarian aide at Firestone High School before beginning her teaching career in the Barberton City Schools. There she taught at UL Light prior to moving to Highland Middle School, before retiring. Barb enjoyed teaching English and coaching Power of the Pen. Upon retirement Barb enjoyed traveling, playing cards, book club and entertaining family and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Alex. Barb is survived by her children (with former husband, Jim Patterson): Christine (Todd) Navin, and Dave Patterson, and Helge Hollander (Germany); grandchildren: Joseph, Stella, Vivian, and Camille; siblings: Janet (Gregg) Zolton, Jean Orosz, and Bob (Linda) Orosz; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held SATURDAY, September 9 at 10AM at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. The family will receive friends from 9AM-10AM. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
