Ms. Barbara Salter Phillips
Barbara Salter Phillips, 76, of Fairlawn, Ohio, passed away June 7, 2014.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 2, 1938 to the late Harlow Brown and Elinor Josephine (Ferguson) Salter, she lived for many years in Shaker Heights, Ohio where she graduated from Shaker Heights High School. She was an active member of the Church of the Saviour. She earned a B.A. from Case Western Reserve University. After teaching French, she devoted her life to raising her daughters. Later in life, she worked in several different roles, including office manager for two dental practices and licensed real estate agent at Hackett & Arnold.
She was an avid Browns and Indians fan, and loved playing Bridge, reading, and spending time with close friends. She also loved the water, and especially spending time with her family during summers at Lake Erie, and family beach trips. She was a kind and gentle lady, always concerned about her family. We are thankful for her sweet life and rest knowing she is safe and at peace in the arms of the Father.
Surviving are her two daughters, Laura (Tim) Bever of San Diego, California and Dr. Julia (Tim Dent) Phillips of Peninsula, Ohio and two grandchildren, Jessica and Ryan Bever. She is also survived by her sisters, Sandra Harris (Edward, predeceased) of Canfield Township, Ohio and Jean (Jeffrey) Hutzler of Bonita Springs, Florida.
A special thank you to the staff at the Village at St. Edward for their wonderful care and love that Barbara received, and to Hospice of VNS for their compassionate care.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday June 15th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N Miller Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333., where a celebration of life service will be held on Monday June 16, 2014 at 11 a.m. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park.
