Barbara Sue Donnelly (Nee Schlegel)

Barbara Sue Donnelly (nee Schlegel), age 62, of Akron, took her final journey on November 12, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Schlegel and very recently her dear friend, Harry Brown. She is survived by her devoted husband, Daniel Donnelly; mother, Geraldine Schlegel; sister, Cathy Kunkel (Tom); two children, Amy Rizzo Marzich (John) and Michael Rizzo (Kellie); stepdaughter, Denise Donnelly Anderson (Bob); seven grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Barbara graduated from Firestone High School in 1967. She spent several years working as a travel agent and was employed by the Akron Zoo for nearly 20 years. Barbara loved to spend time on the water; whether it was on a speed boat on the lake or a cruise ship on the ocean. Her husband was her favorite travel companion, best friend, and love of her life. She considered her children to be her greatest accomplishment and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.

A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. THURSDAY, November 15th, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Fr. Frank Basa officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to the Akron Zoo, 500 Edgewood Ave., Akron 44307.
