Barbara Tilt

Barbara Meyers Tilt, age 84, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2010 in her home with her son Jeff by her side. She was born in Cleveland on May 23, 1926 to George H. and June C. Meyers and spent most of her life in Akron. Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, volunteer and school teacher, having retired from the Akron Public Schools after spending 22 years at Erie Island Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert A. Meyers and sister Janet K. Walker.
She is survived by her sons Jeff and Gary of Atlanta, GA, their partners Mary Anne Bradford and Shelley Holloway, grandchildren Michael Harden, Jr. Misty of Richmond Hill, GA and Kelli Harden fiancée Mike Winkel of Gainesville, FL, great grandchildren Micah and Mattox Harden, nieces Carol Vadnais Paul, Marilyn Buckey, Linda McManmon Peter, grand nieces Jennifer Wick Chris, Lisa Vandersteen Nate, Mindy Ruane Rick, Aimee Cochrane Steve, grand nephews Rob fiancée Mary Zettl and Skip McManmon, great grand niece Piper Wick and great grand nephews Christopher Cochrane and Carter Wick. In her final days Barbara benefited from the loving care of her dear friend Ruth Lynch. She also leaves behind many Bridge partners and friends of many years.
Among her many civic activities Barbara was a former member of the Junior League of Akron and WITAN.
The family will greet visitors on Thursday, July 8 from 5 to 7 pm at Billow Fairlawn Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron. Services will be Friday, July 9 at 12:00 noon at Billow Fairlawn Chapel with burial at Rose Hill Burial Park following.
Memorials may be made to the Akron General Medical Center Cardiac Care Unit or a charity of choice. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
