Becky S. Alexander

August 6, 1953 — November 21, 2023

Medina

On November 21, 2023, Becky S. Alexander went to be with the Lord, surrounded by Tony, her husband of 51 years, and their four sons. Becky was born in Akron and graduated from Garfield High School and the University of Akron. At age 15, Becky went for a walk where she spotted a handsome young man painting his parents’ home; they married when she was 19 years old.

Becky’s love and support was a main factor behind Tony’s business success. While Tony was a business leader, Becky was CEO of their household. As a mother to four boys, Becky had many jobs, including chef, driver, teacher, caregiver, and ‘mom’ to many of her sons’ friends. She knew that cooking a good meal was the best way to bring the family together. Despite her Irish/English (and West Virginian) heritage, she mastered Italian cooking for Tony and the boys. Though Becky traveled the world with Tony, she felt most at home in Akron and West Virginia.

Becky, who became Gigi upon her first grandchild’s birth (a girl -- finally), is beloved by her six grandchildren. Gigi impressed upon her grandchildren her love of reading as well as her love of lunch dates and afternoon shopping. Becky’s grandchildren were the light of her life.

Becky’s love was not limited to her family. Whether you knew Becky her whole life or just a few hours, she had a subtle, humble way of impacting one’s heart. Becky’s first thought was never of herself, but always of others. She was the first to offer comfort, a listening ear, a joyous story, or an unexpected gift you didn’t even know you needed.

Becky is survived by her husband, Tony Alexander, their four sons, Victor (Abby), Jonathan (Kelsey), Anthony, and Vincent (Shane), and grandchildren, Julia Rosemary, Natalie Rae, Anthony Robert, Paul Cosmo, Bridget Victoria, and Crew Phillip. Becky is also survived by her brother, Bruce Michael Cox (Kathy), and treasured cousins, especially Marsha Jackson Lewellyn. She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Raymond Cox and Rosemary Hayes Cox; her grandparents, Jennie Belle Hadox Cox and Bruce Cox and Shada Goff Hayes; her parents-in-law, Angeline Lombardo Alexander and Victor Samuel Alexander; and her best friend, Julie Iorio Clegg. A special thank you for their care and kindness: Abby Alexander, Kelsey Alexander, Sandy Kekela Diehl, Colleen and Keith Riley, Jeanette (Nettie) Sullivan, and Father Chapin Engler.

Becky loved her Catholic faith – in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Becky are invited to make a donation in her name to Father Chapin’s Daily Living: https://mydailyliving.com/support/ .
