Benjamin F. Butler , 84, died peacefully in his sleep on May 31, 2023.
Born in Barberton, he was a longtime resident of Bath, Ohio. Ben was a graduate of Kent State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Architecture.
Ben should be remembered as a devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather. He was an Eagle Scout and lived true to the Scout motto. In early retirement he spent winters in the south, traveling the country with his wife in their motorcoach. Ben enjoyed summers on the river in Marietta, Ohio surrounded by his entire family, including four grandsons. Many hours passed playing cards, listening to country music (especially Johnny Cash) and at the end of the day, a well-earned Johnny Walker on the rocks. Ben earned his living as a contractor where he instilled his strong work ethic into both his boys. He loved being outside, hiking and of course all his rescue “Butler” dogs over the years.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Butler, his wife, of 52 years, Pauline, and he is survived by sons, Paul M. (Kelly) and Bill F. (Karen) Butler; grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Luke and Logan.
