Bernard Broderick

Bernard Broderick, 84, passed away May 23, 2012.
Born in Defiance, Ohio, he lived most of his life in Mogadore. He graduated from Ball State University in Indiana and taught high school and coached basketball before joining Travelers Insurance Company in 1956. He was transferred to Akron as Life Manager in 1963 and went on to purchase The Smith Insurance Agency in Mogadore. It has remained the Broderick Insurance Agency since that time.
Bernard served as Mayor of Mogadore for four years (1968-1972), was active in Little League programs, Lions Club, Portage County Insurance Agents Association and Mogadore Methodist Church.
He moved to Portage Lakes in 1993. He was a life member of Turkeyfoot Sportsmans Club where he served as Trustee.
Preceded in death by his wife, Sue, he is survived by son, Steve Broderick (Delese); daughters, Cindy Broderick and Lynn Broderick; close friend, Linda Faieta; grandchildren, Ben Broderick (Amy) and Meredith Broderick (Geoff), Joseph Lyons, Nathan Lyons (Jennifer) and Elizabeth Bennett (Stacy); two great-grandchildren, Broderick and Noah.
Cremation has taken place. Private inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery.
