Bernard P. Lucas
Bernard Paul Lucas, 80, died peacefully on March 30, 2009.
Born in Akron, he graduated from South High School, and was a member of Saint Hedwig's Catholic Church.
Bernard was a devoted son, brother and friend, especially dedicated to the care of his mother.
He retired from management at Albertson's grocery chain in Bakersfield, California. Bernie was an avid collector of music from the 1940's and 50's, and maintained an extensive archive of family photographs. Drawing, painting and yard work were hobbies.
He was known for his tall good looks and easy sense of humor.
Preceded in death by his sister, Rita Yamokoski and brother, Charles L. Lucas, Jr., he is survived by nieces and nephews, Kathleen Lucas Walls Jake, Rita A. Hawkins, Patricia James Brad, Charles L. Lucas III, Jeffery D. Lucas Jackie, Gary P. Yamokoski, Thomas B. Yamokoski Cecily, William Yamokoski; and good friend, Kevin Autrey Karen.
His family would like to thank Father Ted the Rev. Thaddeus Swirski of St. Hedwig's, and the staff and residents of Sunrise Assisted Living-Cuyahoga Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church, 215 E. Glenwood Ave., with Fr. Thaddeus Swirski, Pastor of St. Hedwig's, officiating.
