Bessie O. Garrett, 76, passed away peacefully August 17 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Byrdstown, Tenn., she lived most of her life in Akron.
Bessie was a longtime member of the Cathedral of Tomorrow. For many years, she was a caretaker for her parents. She will be remembered as a loyal servant of God and a prayer warrior for family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Bertha Moon; siblings/spouses, Vonnie Glee Gibson, Fonzie Tompkins, Jay Moon, Glen Tompkins, Willie Moon, Roxie Moon, Nora Virgil Mullins, Nell Beaty, Jay West, Tommy Moon; she is survived by son, Lyndon Karen Garrett; daughter, Debbie Fred Spencer; grandchildren, Chelsea Garrett, Jenna, Maxwell, Natalie and Donald Spencer; siblings/spouses, Dennis Tompkins, Helen Moon, Dororthy Tompkins, Cora Walden Storie, Bill Beaty, Illene West, Norma Doyle Qualls, Burneice Moon, Betty John Barton; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls, with Pastor Eileen Woyen officiating. Burial in Byrdstown, Tenn. on Saturday. Friends may call 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
