Betty J. Gates

Betty J. Gates, 90, passed away May 23, 2014.

Born in Akron, she was a lifelong area resident. Betty received a bachelor's degree from the University of Akron, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was a member of Northminster Presbyterian church, serving as a deacon and in the Presbyterian Women's Group. She was former secretary of the Summit County Medical Society and the Coordinator of the Akron Executives Association.

Preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Oola Becker and her husband, Harold Weaver, who was killed in Europe in World War II; she is survived by her husband of sixty years, Raymond D.; son, David F.; daughter, Barbara L.; and cousin, William (Nancy) Schafer.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. WEDNESDAY at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St, with Rev. Stephanie Crossland officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call at the funeral home TUESDAY from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service Wednesday. (Billow FALLS Chapel)
