Betty Bowdler Muirden, age 84, passed away on Monday, August 9th at Copley, Ohio.
Mrs. Muirden was born in Minnesota, but was raised in Argentina, the daughter of Baptist missionaries. She met her husband, Sydney James Muirden, who was just completing his term of service in the Argentine Army, on a train heading to Buenos Aires. The two settled in New Haven, Connecticut where they lived for over 50 years.
Mrs. Muirden was an art history librarian at the Yale British Arts Center in New Haven. She was an avid gardener and animal lover.
Mrs. Muirden is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Muirden of New Haven; her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Muirden Holland and Jeff Holland of Sharon Township, Medina County, Ohio; and grandsons, Nicholas, Jack, Ben and Noah Holland.
A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, August 12th at 9 a.m. at the Bath Church in Bath, Ohio. Donations are being accepted in the memory of Mrs. Muirden to the Smile Train, a charitable organization which provides free cleft lip and palate surgery for poor children in developing countries.
