Betty Jean Oblisk

Betty Jean Oblisk (nee Woodford), 89, of Akron, OH died May 17, 2015.
Born February 15, 1926 in Ada, WV, she moved to Akron with her family as an infant and grew up in Firestone Park. She attended the University of Akron earning a Bachelor of Education in the spring of 1947 and taught in the Community and Technical College from the fall of 1947 until she retired in the 1980s. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and the Junior Women's City Club.
A lifelong member of Firestone Park United Methodist Church since 1937, she continued to attend with her family after marrying and moving to Kenmore where she lived for 50 years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, James and Blanche Woodford; husband, Gene; son, Tim; sister, Kathleen McClintick; and brother in law, Neil McClintick. Survivors include her son, Greg, daughter-in-law, Keath; granddaughters, Krista Cooper (Matt), Kiley Oblisk, Kelsey Oblisk and Lynsey Oblisk.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Patricia Christ officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
