Beverly M Mulrooney

Beverly M. Mulrooney, 76, of Akron, passed away 2013 at the Hospice of VNS in Fairlawn. Beverly fought a valiant fight against Cancer (MDS) but was unable to defeat this disease.

Beverly was the daughter of George A. Smith and Margaret (Petrasek) Smith, who pre-deceased her. She was born May 31, 1936 in Akron, Ohio, and lived her entire life in Akron. Beverly was a graduate of Akron Garfield High School in 1954 and attended The University of Akron. Beverly worked at the First National Bank, Akron Art Institute and the Coventry Local School District before settling down to her life career as a Wife, Mom and Grandma.

Beverly was a member of Billow Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, AARP and was a 50 year member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church. Beverly met Bill Mulrooney in high school and married him in 1958 at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Akron.

Beverly loved wildlife and all types of animals. Her favorite pastime was the feeding of the birds and squirrels on her patio. Every morning she would feed her "critters" and wait to watch her flock assemble. She also was very particular about the landscaping at home. Through her efforts the residence received several "Keep Akron Beautiful" awards.

The family thanks the staff of the McDowell Cancer Center, Hospice of VNS and Dr. Scott McGee for their care and treatment of Beverly. Also, thanks to Goldie, Gretchen, Joan and Cousin Gerry for the many cards, kind thoughts and long phone conversations with Beverly.

Beverly is survived by her husband, of 54 years, Bill. Also surviving is her son, Aaron and his wife, Despina. The real love of her life, Aaron Jr. and his dog Lightning are also left to mourn her passing. Aaron Jr. was the light of her life and brought her many hours of pleasure through his many talents and his enormous love of his Grandma.

Friends are invited to the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., for visitation on Saturday, January 19, 2013 between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Funeral service follow visitation at 12:30 p.m., with the Rev. Mark J. Pruitt of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.
