Blin Barton Scatterday, age 93, was welcomed into the arms of his savior on December 25, 2021. He was born in Akron, Ohio and was a lifetime resident of the Akron area.
Blin graduated from Central High School and the University of Akron, served in the U.S Army ROTC, and the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a career educator having taught nearly 50 years including Principal at East Liberty Elementary and Green High Schools, teacher of Mathematics at Woodridge High School, and professor and chair of the department of Associate Studies at The University of Akron. A life-long member and deacon of Trinity Lutheran Church, Blin was also very active in leadership roles with West Akron Kiwanis, Ohio MATYC, and ORTA, as well as volunteering at WRMC (Medina). His greatest joys were his family, his faith in God, teaching students, golf, tennis, and love of social gatherings.
Blin was the loving husband of Suzanne for 56 years and a devoted father to his two children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne; mother, Helen Davis Scatterday; aunts Grace and Hazel Davis; and mother-in-law, Sylvia Lindner Rush. He is survived by son, Dr. Mark D. Scatterday, Rochester, N.Y. and daughter-in-law, Leslie; daughter, Cindy Sabula, Milton, GA., and son-in-law, Edward; grandsons, Michael (Ruth Ann), Atlanta, GA and Connor (Emily), Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law, Elyssa Lindner (NYC); and cousins, Barbara and Jon Humphrey. Blin’s life journey was also enriched by many of his colleagues and treasured friends.
