Dr. Bruce R. Shaw, 89, died November 29, 2017.
Born in Akron, he was a graduate of Buchtel High School, Class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Army occupation of Japan. He attended West Virginia University, the University of Illinois, the University of Akron and received his D.D.S from Northwestern University. Dr. Shaw had a dental practice in Akron for 38 years and belonged to the Akron, Ohio and National Dental Societies. He was a former member and past president of the Fairlawn Country Club and former member of the Landings Club, Skidway Island, Savanah, GA.
Preceded in death by his wives, Patricia Hodgson Shaw (mother of his six children) and Norma McMellon Shaw; parents, James and Ruth Shaw; he is survived by his children, Sally (Norm) Nyburg, Douglas (Martha) Shaw, Susan (David) Sarkisian, Nancy (Gene) Fitch, Amy (Larry) Marion and Cathy (Gary) Woolfolk; stepchildren, Jennifer (Jerry) Hissam, Jacquelyn Davis and Susan Spurlock; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. SUNDAY at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Pastor Jean Hansen officiating. Private inurnment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until the service begins.
