C. Ray Miller

February 17, 1929 — August 22, 2017

C. Ray Miller passed away at the age of 88 on August 22 surrounded by loving family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clinton R. Miller Sr. and Hazel E. Miller and former wife Betty Lou Miller.
Ray was born February 17, 1929 in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from The Riverside Military Academy, then went on to The University of Akron, graduating with a B. S. Degree in Industrial Management and a proud member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Ray was the President of the Clint Miller Bldg. & Realty Co., incorporated in 1953. He was a Real Estate Broker who also held the MAI appraisal designation, performing extensive commercial and industrial appraisal assignments. He served as past President of several organizations including the Akron Area Board of Realtors, the Akron Canton Chapter Society of Real Estate Appraisers and the Akron Cleveland Chapter of the American Society of Appraisers.
He is survived by loving wife Sally, children: Keith (Susan), Gregory (Beverly), Shari Hartman-Miller, Kimberly (Gerald) Tonini, Melanie (Michael) Boxell, Greg (Lori) Selover, 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, brother Donald K. (Muffy) Miller and sister Judith (James) Tamsen.
He enjoyed the social activities and friendships as a member of Portage Country Club and a proud member of the Bluecoats. Ray was appreciative of good food, reading the Wallstreet Journal and keeping up on current events. He was a kind, honest, meticulous and proud man whose handshake was as good as a signed contract. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be private for the family; there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray's name may be made to the Bluecoats, 2060 West Nimisila Rd., Clinton, OH 44216 or Hospice of VNS, c/o Akron General Foundation, 1 Akron General Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44307-2463.
