Camille Ann Strandberg, 80, of Fairlawn, Ohio passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 from cancer and its many complications after a short hospice stay in Copley, Ohio. She fought to defeat the disease with uncommon valor for several years, but in the end her body could take no more. She died gently with unimaginable grace.
She was born July 15, 1938 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to Herbert and Ethel Thiele and lived as a youth in Park River, North Dakota. She had a life long pride in her hometown area. She earned a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of North Dakota and retired after nearly 20 years with Akron City Hospital.
She is survived by Jim, her husband of 58 years; and sons, Brian (Lisa), and Brent (Susan); and daughter, Beth Kohmann (Fritz). She had seven grandchildren - Jacob, Ben, Max, Joey, Alexa, Hailey, and Braeden. Also surviving is her brother, Johnny Thiele (Karen) of St. Thomas, North Dakota; and six nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at New Covenant Community Church, 1587 West Exchange St., Akron, Ohio 44313, with Rev. Francie Fischer officiating. Private inurnment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the renovation fund of the church. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
