Carl Alvin Nochols

June 4, 1930 — February 22, 2011

Carl Alvin Nichols, born June 4, 1930, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died peacefully in his sleep on February 22, 2011.

Carl, our dad, was a National Guard veteran and made a living as a mechanic. Our dad taught us what kindness, fairness, gentleness, humor and love meant to a family. He taught us how to take care of ourselves and each other, and in turn we teach our children.

Preceded in death by our mother, Helen, he and our mother now are together watching over us. He leaves family behind: Jennette Cox, Edward Debbie Nichols, Carl Kathleen Nichols, Julie Russell Crookston; grandchildren, Melanie Will, Allison, Andy Iselle, Stefanie, Robbie Laura, Shawn, Kathy Kevin, Phillip Rachel, and Geoffrey; and great-grandchildren, Ryan and Zoe, Jacob, Devin, Amia, Dominick, Gavin, and Cadence.

If love was enough, dad... you would have lived forever.

Special thanks to dad's doctors, Steven Oyakawa, MD, Dennis Wright, MD, John Pinkowski, MD, Amy Weidman MD, Joseph Meli, MD, Andrew Raynor, MD and Dr. Bindra for always being kind and respectful to him.

Service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, with Mr. Hoyt Nofsinger officiating. Private family interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, we request that any donations be made to the Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333, to allow other patients the comfortable, quiet, peaceful, loving care and dignity at the end of their lives.
