Carol Rose Wisz, 91, passed away at her home in Peninsula on April 14, 2014, on what would have been her late husband Edward's 99th birthday. After a fall in her home in July of 2013, that necessitated surgery to repair a fracture of her cervical spine, she valiantly persevered for the past year. In the end her heart of gold gave out, and she passed of congestive heart failure.
Carol was born and raised in Cleveland. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Laura (nee Rothacher) Zilm. Upon their marriage, Carol and Ed moved from Cleveland to start a new life in the "country", their beloved Cuyahoga Valley (now Cuyahoga Valley National Park). Ed and Carol Wisz were married for over 50 years. Carol was a Mother, a PTA Officer, a cookie maker, an office worker, and a news hound, always on the lookout for the next adventure. Many vacations were taken, ranging from Florida to Arizona to Alaska, always with an AAA TripTik in hand. She and husband Ed were avid railway fans and took a number of memorable train trips.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Carol Brunner (husband LTC K. Richard Brunner, Jr., USA (Ret)), of Alexandria, VA; and Lauren Mary Traer (husband James) of Gainesville, FL; and Edward's daughters Elizabeth Petit (husband Patrick), of Cleveland; and Judith Goodman (husband Joseph), of Columbus, and Virginia Black, of Columbus and their families.
