CAROLYN VELMA GORDON (nee Werner), 83, passed away on September 2, 2020. She was raised in the Kenmore neighborhood of Akron, graduating from Kenmore High School in 1955. Following her marriage to Thom Gordon Sr. in 1961, she moved to Cuyahoga Falls and then North Olmsted, where she and Thom raised their family. Carolyn was a longtime member of St. Richard’s Church and then St. Clarence. For 15 years she worked as an SBH technician in the North Olmsted Public Schools. In 2015, she moved to Copley Place, and has resided at the Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn for the past year.
Carolyn was blessed to have a wonderful group of women friends who did life together traveling, gambling and staying just this side of trouble. She played a mean game of poker and loved to make people laugh. She also enjoyed spending time with her family on their houseboat at Bay Point in Marblehead, Ohio where over the years friends became family.
Carolyn is survived by her three children, Thomas F. Gordon (Pam) of Chicago, Robert E. Gordon (Robin) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Cheryl Lynn Sigsworth (Bob) of Bath Township; grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Gordon; Jacob, Kevin and Bradley Gordon and Brittany, Clarice and Noah Sigsworth; a sister, Eleanor Morgan of Lakemore; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Thom Gordon Sr, in 1995; and also by her parents, Joseph and Sadie (nee Obrodo) Werner; brother, Jack Werner; and twin sister, Marilyn Masich.
A private burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park, Ohio with a Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
