Carolyn Jean Grinter , age 88, of Akron, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
Born in Rapid City, SD on July 3, 1934, to Emil and Myrtle Linstrom. Carolyn was very proud of her roots, growing up in the Black Hills of South Dakota, the youngest of eight children. She later moved to California where she met the love of her life, Hershel. They married and enjoyed extensive traveling, while building their life and their family. In 1970, they made their permanent home in Bath, OH. Carolyn has been heavily involved in Bath Church United Church of Christ since she began going in 1970. She loved to be outdoors and especially enjoyed walking and hiking, looking at beautiful flowers and birds. Carolyn enjoyed a casual glass of wine, and when she did, she would call it, “Wine Time!” She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hershel Wallace Grinter in 2014, her son, Steven in 2009, her parents, three sisters, and two brothers . She is survived by her cherished daughter, Diane (Brad) Steiger; daughter-in-law, Maria Matthews; grandchildren, Melanie and Matthew Steiger, and Andy and Kelly Grinter; siblings, Richard Linstrom and Belva McGraw (both of South Dakota); and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Bath Church United Church of Christ, 3980 W Bath Rd., Akron, OH 44333. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment immediately following in Moore’s Chapel Cemetery.
Carolyn would like her life to be celebrated, and in honor of that, the family asks that you feel free to wear colorful clothing to the services.
