Catherine Griebner Tallady died November 2, 2022. She was born October 27, 1928 and preceded in death by her first husband, Jack K. Griebner and her second husband, Burrell Tallady.
She is survived by three children, David Griebner (Sande), Marci Bailey (Lee) and Steve Griebner (Sue), five grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Lewiston and served as a deacon and elder through the years. Cathy was a professor Emeritus of speech Communication at Niagara County Community College for 23 years before retiring in 1989. After she retired, she wrote a book entitled “I'd Rather Die Than Give a Speech And Other Stories From the Classroom.”
She loved writing and belonged to the Association of Women Writers and was featured in the “My View” column of the Buffalo News several times. She also had short stories published in several magazines. Cathy was a theater major in college and used that experience to work with Glen Tilyou on a musical adaptation of 'Tom Sawyer” . It was performed at the Niagara Falls Little Theater and Melody Tent. While teaching college she created a group of students called “The NCC 13” that performed in many different venues during the early 70's.
The family would appreciate any memorial gift donated to The First Presbyterian Church, Lewiston, New York.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date in Lewiston.
