Charles H. Hammond, 92, died May 9, 2011.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., he graduated from the University of Alabama. As a chemical engineer, he worked for the Tennessee Eastman Corporation and had retired from the Bridgestone-Firestone Tire and Rubber Company with 44 years service. He had attended the First United Methodist Church of Akron.
Preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, he is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jane; son, Dr. Charles H. Hammond, Jr. Mary Jo; daughter, Janice M. Kobb Charles; four grandchildren and two great-grand-children.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Franklin, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Red Cross or a charity of one's choice. Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel
