Charles "Chuck" Dunlap

Charles “Chuck” Dunlap , 78, of Green passed away on July 20, 2024. Chuck was born in Akron, Ohio on September 26, 1945, to the late Charles and Julia Dunlap. Chuck was a graduate of Manchester High School class of 1963 and attended Kent State University. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber racing tire division and eventually took over the family business of growing apples at Dunlap Apple Orchard. For years people from miles around drove to the orchard to browse the apple sales room, sip cider, pick their own, and shoot the breeze with Chuck.

Chuck was known for several passions. For years he played golf with the Chenoweth Golf League and made spring golfing trips with buddies to the Carolinas. He was very skilled on the pool table, and proudly displayed his many championship trophies. He enjoyed playing poker and euchre, and fellowship as a member of the Sons of Herman. He was quite self-reliant in the kitchen and sometimes treated family to his white chili recipe. Outdoors he marveled at the birds and other wildlife that frequented the orchard and surrounding properties. He loved to tinker and welcomed the challenge to fix things. He relished attending family celebrations where we enjoyed his mischievous sense of humor.

He is survived by his loving sons John (Cindy) Dunlap and Craig (Lisa) Dunlap; granddaughters Mackenzie Dunlap and Alyssa Haley; sisters Deborah (Joe) Marino and Sheila (David) Wenhart; brother Tom (Donna) Dunlap; Aunt Karen (the late Doug) Cyrus; many nieces, nephews and cousins. We give a special thank you to his longtime caregivers Lori Bordenkircher and Beth Tigelman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday July 29, 2024, from 11-1 PM at the Billow Funeral Home FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd. Fairlawn, Ohio 44333.
