Charlotte E Staiger
died peacefully in her sleep on April 9, 2023 at the age of 94. She was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 14, 1929 and lived in Akron from an early age. She attended Old Trail School in Akron and graduated from Connecticut College, after which she returned to Akron to begin an active life in the community. On October 20, 1951, she married Richard W. Staiger and they began their full, loving life and family together.
Charlotte was a dedicated member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since childhood and was active in many community organizations such as Diggers & Weeders, Akron Garden Club, and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. She was a founding member of the annual Fairlawn Heights, 4th of July Parade. She enjoyed hosting family and friends for many parties, events, and holidays over the years always taking great interest and care in everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; daughter, Mary Smart; parents, Charles W and Margaret C. Enyart; sister Mary Williams; brothers-in-law Henry Williams and Bruce Bain.
She leaves her son, William E Staiger (Patricia); grandchildren, Evan E Staiger (Trish), Carl R Staiger (Natalie), Noel R Smart, Audrey S Greder (Jacob); great-grandchildren, Gwyneth, Elliot, Vivian, and Shelby Staiger. She leaves her sister, Julia Bain and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held May 12, 2023 at 11AM, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., Akron 44313.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, Margaret Enyart Endowment Fund; The Humane Society of Summit County; or the charity of your choice.
