Cheryl J. Koppe Wanzie, our beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend born February 15, 1951, passed away suddenly April 22, 2010. Chere has joined her father in God's loving care.
Cheryl was a 1969 graduate of Firestone High School. She received a Master's in Education from the University of Akron and retired from Fields School after 36 years. Chere enjoyed going out with friends, sports and traveling. She was the Lead Representative of People to People and took student ambassadors around the world for over 20 years.
Preceded in death by her father, Charles Wanzie, Sr.; survived by sons, Matthew Emily Koppe, Michael Renee Koppe; mother, Ruth Wanzie; brother, Charles Beverly Wanzie; nephews, Bill Angie Steele, Robert "Buddy" Wanzie; niece, Tiffany Josh Wanzie; her special friend, John P. Charmo.
Services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Akron with Minister Denise Tompkin officiating. Burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Field Local Schools, attn: Scholarship Fund, 2900 SR 43, Mogadore, OH 44260.
