Chester Lamont

Chester Lamont, 88, died August 29, 2014.

Chet was born in 1926 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Jan and Josephine Lamont (Wienckewicz). Chet served in the US Army - 29th Infantry Div from 1945-1947. Chet retired from Revere Board of Education, where he worked maintenance for 22 years and, along with his wife Jean, provided field maintenance and gate duties for Revere soccer games. Chet was happily married to Jean Lamont for 41 years and was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Stow. His many friendships also included those of the Bath Senior Citizens Group and Bath Good Times Club. Bonfires, camping, woodworking, flea markets and his grandchildren were some of his greatest pleasures.

Chet is survived by his wife, Jean (Manwell); his daughters, Cynthia Busch, Pam Zollinger (Geoff), Amy Siegfried (Richard); step children, Robert Marlowe (Susan), Phillip Marlowe (Heather) and Elizabeth Smith (Paul); grandchildren, Rebecca Ward (Jake), Brian Busch (Karen), Holly Herron (Jeff), Glennis Siegfried, Caitlin Siegfried, Jessica Biddle (Randy), Jonathan Marlowe (Shauna), Andy Smith (Katie), Erin Smith, Garrett Marlowe, Lauren Marlowe and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Smith; siblings, John Lamont, Anna Gordon, Estelle Stein and Joseph Lamont.

The family wishes to thank Dr.'s and staff at McDowell Cancer Institute, Dr. Owusu, Dr. Davidson, and Mr. Peter Russo at the Veterans Administration Clinic for their compassion and care.

Calling hours will be at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., Sunday, September 7th, 2-5 PM. Memorial service will be held Monday, September 8th, 10:30 AM at First Christian Church of Stow, followed by inurnment at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, promptly at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McDowell Cancer Institute, c/o Akron General Medical Center Development Foundation, 1 Akron General Avenue, Akron, Ohio 44307 or First Christian Church of Stow, 3493 Darrow Rd., Stow, Ohio 44224.
