Christian Raymond Melik, age 22, of Wadsworth, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
He was born on March 5, 2002 in Akron, OH; the son of Christopher and Lydia Melik.
He played tennis (not well), there was no pretending he was a good ping pong player and his lack of skill in charades was legendary. What he was fantastic at was so much more. He was fantastic at loving his family; his parents, sister, brother, cousins, aunts, uncles, Godmother, grandparents and extended family, not to mention the family dogs of Koula, Baki and Isa. He would pretend he wasn’t a fan of the dogs, but then you’d overhear him talking love to them. Christian was such an amazingly kind, funny, stubborn, smart and accomplished young man. He was a recent graduate of Kent State University with a bright future in front of him. He was already a successful Realtor®, handyman, and investor. He loved spending time with his family, especially when all the cousins were together, kayaking, playing games and he found a true passion in renovating homes with his dad, sharing the vision of what a property could be. He was not one for the spotlight and helped so many, graciously and quietly. From building a ramp in the cold and rain for an older woman who lost her leg, helping avidly at Good Samaritans, the Greek Festival, simply moving a China cabinet, to visiting his Yiayia Georgia when the world shut down from Covid and talking to her daily through her window for over a year. He was quietly kind. He wasn’t Christian to us, he was “Tinnie” from when his sister, Melina, couldn’t say his name correctly. He was his brother Jacob’s “Bubbie” to play video games with. When he shared his laughter it was amazing, bright, and brought so much joy. His giggle at the end when he laughed, was the absolute best and will be cherished forever.
Preceded in death by his Yiayia, Georgia Laikos (1935-2022). He is survived by his parents, Christopher and Lydia (Laikos) Melik; sister, Melina; brother, Jacob; Uncles Pete (Cindy) Laikos and George (Hannan) Laikos; Godmother, Penny Dickos; Grandparents, Alan and Jackie Zagunis; Cousins, Maria (Ben), Elaina (Fiance Jesse), Alex (Partner Olivia), Selena (Fiance Trevor), Alyssa, and Demetri (Partner Danielle); First Cousins once removed, Athena, Leila and Elias; and many more extended friends and family.
