Christopher J. Varga

It is with the utmost and absolute sadness that I have to announce that my best friend and husband has left this world.

Christopher James Varga, "Chris," "Dad," "Pop," "Gipa," or "Vargs" to to his friends, passed away unexpectedly on March 29, 2025.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Pat Varga.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sonya Varga; his daughter, Mindy Poole (Kenneth), and daughter, Catherine Varga (Mersaydes); son, CJ Varga; and grandchildren, Colby Poole, Marleigh Poole and Vincent Gadbaw. His also survived by his father, James W. Varga; sister Elizabeth Lauro; sister Jennifer Hathaway (Ken); and nephews, Nicolas Lauro (Carolina), Dylan Hathaway and niece Zoey Hathaway.

Chris was born in Richmond Heights, Ohio. He loved to tell stories of growing up with friends at “484 Karl”. He graduated from RHHS in 1979 and went on to graduate from Bowling Green University in 1983.

Since he moved back to Ohio in 2006, he enjoyed being with his family, working around the house and taking care of all of us. He dearly loved the Cuyahoga Falls High School Marching Tiger Band. When Catherine and CJ joined the band, he fell in love with the tradition, music and performance. He never missed seeing the kids march.

There will be a small family celebration of life at a later date.
