Obituary for Claire Ellen Schroeder (Roberts)

Ellen Schroeder, age 87, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, in Akron, Ohio surrounded by loving family. She was born in Flushing, Ohio, and graduated from St. Clairsville, High School in Ohio. Ellen was the daughter of the late Evelyn and Issac Roberts.

Ellen was the beloved wife of David Schroeder, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. They were long-time Springfield, Ohio residents. Together, they raised two children, Chris and Scott. Ellen was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, deeply loved by her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David, sister Carolyn Sue and brother Frank. She is survived by her two sons, Chris and Scott (Kristina), and her grandchildren, Lauren and Evan and great grandchildren, Owen and Maren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jim and Bob, and many other extended family members and close friends.

Ellen was a woman of great kindness and warmth, a cherished friend and neighbor, and someone whose spirit and generosity will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A private ceremony will be held for the family. Ellen’s family would like to thank Buckeye Hospice for their care and comfort. Memorial donations may be made in Ellen’s memory to the Hattie Larlham, an organization that was close to her heart, or Buckeye Hospice.

She will forever be remembered for her love, grace, and the legacy of joy she leaves behind.
