Craig Allen Wood, 48, died at home August 27, 2018. He had glioblastoma, but glioblastoma did not have him. Throughout the two and a half years he underwent various treatments, Craig (called "Crow" by his friends in the biking community) continued to pursue his passions of road and mountain biking, hiking, traveling, and fixing up the beautiful home he shared with his wife, Heidi, in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Before his diagnosis, he ran his own business for over ten years as an IT consultant. In addition to the activities listed above, he spent his spare time advocating for mountain biking as well as building and maintaining local trails.
Craig will be lovingly remembered for his adventurous spirit and sense of humor by his wife, Heidi Emhoff Wood; his mother and step-father, Susan and Robert Vetter; his sister, Doris (Nick) Vincent; the members of the Akron Bicycle Club (ABC) and Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA); and all of the family and friends whose lives he touched. He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Wood.
A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. SATURDAY at Moore's Chapel Cemetery, 1631 N. Hametown Rd., Akron, with Rev. Kristina Spaude and Pastor Jon Weaver officiating. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Craig's life at the Wood Residence from 12pm to 3pm SATURDAY. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Craig's name may be made to the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, 1403 West Hines Hill Road, Peninsula, Ohio 44264. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
