Dan E Reiss age 98 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Feb. 8, 2015 in Dover, Ohio.

He was born Feb 10, 1916 in Dover, Ohio, but lived 75 years in Akron. In 2009 he and his wife Dixie moved back to Dover and lived at Park Village. Dan loved life and everything was more fun when he was with you. He always said he was the luckiest man in the world. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He leaves us with many memories filled with laughter and love.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Diane and her husband Bill of Moorestown, NJ and Callawassie Island SC, daughter in law Melinda Reiss of North Canton, Ohio, grandchildren; Scott Reid and his wife Molly of Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland, Lisa Reid Matos and her husband Joey of Rogers Arkansas, Heather Reiss of Munroe Falls, Ohio and Dan Reiss of North Canton will sadly miss their Bop. He also leaves great grandchildren McKenna, Meghan, and Colton Reid and Reid Matos.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dixie, his son Dr. Dan Reiss, his parents Mary and Carl Reiss and his sister, Virginia.

Dan graduated from Dover High School in 1934. He was member of the 1933 Dover National Champion Band and a lifetime Tornadoes fan.

He was a World War II Purple Heart veteran and proudly served his country in the United States Army, 1st cavalry in the Pacific theater. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Dan worked at the RCA Rubber Company as Executive Vice President, retiring after 48 years of service. He served many years on the American Transit Association board.

After retiring from the RCA, he turned his hobby of stamp collecting into a business. He was a member of the Cuyahoga Falls Stamp Club, He and Dixie spent many weekends at stamp shows throughout the mid-west and east coast and both loved every minute of their new venture.

He was an avid fisherman, a big Buckeye fan, he loved going to the Atlantic City casinos and loved playing scratch off lottery tickets. He and Dixie traveled extensively and saw much of the world.

In his 98 years, 2 days before his 99th birthday, he lived life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, but mostly by his beloved family.

Friends will be received at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd, Akron on Wednesday from 4-6PM. Private services will be held for the family.

Donations in memory of Dan Reiss can be made to the Dan and Hilda Reiss Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund, KSU Tuscarawas Nursing Program, 330 University Drive NE, New Philadelphia, Ohio 44663.

The family would like to thank Park Village Health Care Center Staff for all their kindness and care given to both Dan and his wife Dixie; we will always think of you as extended family.
