David Lee Aley, 74, passed away May 21, 2016 after a long illness.
Born in Youngstown and raised in Howland, he graduated from Howland High School and served in the USMC. He attended The Ohio State University and graduated from UCLA and worked at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Los Angeles, Topeka, and Akron to support his beloved family.
Predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth Heimbaugh; adoptive parents, Myron and Virginia Aley; and sister, Charlene Warr; he is survived by his sister, Mariellen; brothers, William and Robert; wife, Norma; son, Jeff; and daughter-in-law, Connie. He had many close friends whom he loved as grandchildren.
Dave was a man of great intellect and was a pioneering user of home computers. He taught himself several computer programming languages and wrote programs for finance and genealogy. He was also a man of great humor and was fond of writing funny stories and poems. He often repeated, "It doesn't have to be true, so long as it's funny."
Dave enjoyed hiking in the mountains of Northern California and sailing on San Francisco Bay. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football and baseball.
He will be greatly missed until the day we are reunited in heaven.
Services will be held 10 a.m. SATURDAY May 28th at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with calling hours preceding at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)
