David Williamson Gates passed away July 21, 2016 at the age of 94.
He was born in Akron, Ohio September 23, 1921 and was a graduate of West High School in Akron and Colgate University in Hamilton, NY. He was an Army flight instructor in WWII, and after graduation, went on to work for Eastern Airlines in NYC. He met and married his wife, Hope Chandler in 1949. His career was spent at Mohawk Rubber Company as head of Gov't Sales. He and Hope moved to Naples, Florida in 1989 and he went on to have a second career working for the Collier County School System for 16 years.
David is survived by his daughters, Sally Johnson (Allan) and Julianne Wohler (Peter); and grandchildren, Lauralee Pittman (Brian), Andrew Lucieer (Shannon) and Luke Lucieer; and his two great grandchildren, Caius and Freya Pittman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Noble and Ruth Sigrist Gates; his wife, Hope Chandler Gates; and his grandson, David Williamson Elliot.
