DAVID E. HINEBAUGH was born on Mother's Day, May 14, 1933. Dave died on March 29, 2017 at the age of 83 years young at the Hospice of the VNS Care Center on Ridgewood Rd., Fairlawn.
At Grandmother Martha Davis' bequest the family moved to the country known as Fairlawn. The drought quickly forced the family to move back to Kenmore and he always considered himself a "Kenmore boy" and became a member of Goss Memorial Church.
Dave graduated from Margaret Park School in 1947, Kenmore High School in 1950, (and still met classmates for monthly gatherings) and from The University of Akron in 1954. He later achieved a Library Science degree from Kent State in 1958 and attended the Chicago School of Library.
Dave joined the Army, serving from 1954 to 1956 in Verdun, France. Dave enjoyed his opportunities for traveling during this period which encouraged many subsequent trips, especially to Paris. He also accomplished over fifty educational trips in the US and abroad.
Dave was Public Relations Director at Goodwill Industries. Office Manager, without the title, at Acme Industrial Waste and, for the final twenty years of his career, was Testing Specialist at the University of Akron's Counseling and Testing center.
Much of Dave's life was devoted to church music. He served as Choir Director at Bethel Lutheran church, Bath for eleven years and then at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Cuyahoga Falls from September 1977. Dave was very proud of the fact that the one and only unscheduled absence in all those years was on February 12, 2017.
Dave was active in various community theaters. He appeared most recently at Western Reserve
Playhouse, Bath and Stow Players. His most favorite show of all time was the Fantasticks in which he performed several roles for a total of six productions. "Remember me... ... ... . in light" His last performance was as the Storyteller in the Velveteen Rabbit at Stow Players on February 11, 2017.
David had many acquaintances and many dear friends. He is survived by his sister Judy O'Connor and her family; chosen sister, Carlene Groeger and her family; and his chosen daughter, Jacquelyn Hudson Golden.
The gathering of memories will be held SATURDAY, April 1, from 2 to 4 pm at the Billow FALLS Chapel, 1907 23rd St., Cuyahoga Falls. Bring your happy memories and anecdotes to share.
