David P Horn

David P. Horn, age 65, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2012 surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was a loving husband and father who always knew the right things to say to put a smile on our faces. David was an inspiration to all of us and we will miss him deeply.

He was born May 13, 1947, in Akron, Ohio, to Binnie (Hadley) Horn and the late Paul Horn. He married Darlene (Rich) Horn on July 9, 1977 and they had two daughters, Kelley and Kim, who were the loves of his life.

He attended St. Vincent High School in Akron, Ohio and went on to attend Borromeo Seminary College in Wickliffe, Ohio where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English (1969). He received a Master of Science in Technical Education from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio (1990).

David worked for The University of Akron for 27 years and retired on June 30th, 2012. As the Director of the Center for Gift and Estate Planning, he had the opportunity to express his passion and love for the university. He touched the lives of colleagues and friends of the university and was loved and respected by everyone.

David was preceded in death by his father, Paul Horn and sister, Diane Horn. He leaves behind, his loving wife of 35 years, Darlene (Rich) Horn of North Canton, Ohio; daughters, Kelley Horn (Mike Dougherty) of Cleveland, Ohio and Kim Horn (Dino Campellone) of Cleveland, Ohio; mother, Binnie (Hadley) Horn of Huntersville, North Carolina; sister, Debbie (Terry) McConnuaghey of Palm City, Florida; brothers, Danny (Julie) Horn of Akron, Ohio, Jim (Kate) Horn of Tallmadge, Ohio, and Michael (Dee) Horn of Huntersville, North Carolina. He is also survived by his Aunt Josephine and Uncle Irving Hadley, his cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. He will be missed by his loving dogs, Ruby, Tucker, and Lulu (known as the "kids").

A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held on SATURDAY, September 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., with Rev. Father Paul J. Rosing officiating. The family will also welcome friends on FRIDAY, August 31, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in David's honor may be made to The David P.
